Even though publishing has rules, techniques, and best practices that make life
easier, it is still a creative process and therefore magical. Almost everyone feels
elated when they receive their books from the printer. Something
initially vague in your mind has grown, taken shape, been refined and emerged as
something you're proud to hand your friends and colleagues. In some ways it is
exactly what you imagined; in some ways it is something that has taken on a life
of its own and enlarged your sense of yourself. It is magic. At The Publishing
